Wellington Regional
Council

We are very proud that 100 Cuba Street, Wellington has been listed as a finalist at this year’s Property Council New Zealand Property Industry Awards in both the Commercial Office and Heritage and Adaptive Reuses award categories.

As one of the largest open-plan commercial spaces in Wellington, the Cuba Street Farmers heritage building has been transformed into a state-of-the-art workspace.  Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) worked with Athfield Architects and LT McGuiness to transform this iconic building into a modern office that enabled all of their staff to collaborate under one roof.

The open-plan design enabled staff to work in a more flexible environment to encourage teamwork and productivity. Keeping many of the original structural elements, including the Matai wooden floors and cast-iron columns, was important and resulted in a space that complements and accentuates the building’s heritage features with the use of nature-driven colours and textures.

The Potter Interior Systems team met the brief with our Austratus Timber Batten Ceiling and Wall System designed to be easily installed and bring natural warmth through timber to any space. Specified in Square Fin Combo and finished in Western Red Cedar to blend seamlessly with the existing heritage features.

This smooth and stylish product is available in Western Red Cedar, Hemlock and now stocked in New Zealand Radiata Pine with a variety of sizes, which offer beautiful design flexibility.
