Rigitone Matrix 15mm Round (15/30) is part of the Potter Interior Systems Perforated Plasterboard range and one of the edge to edge Rigitone patterns available. Rigitone boards were developed by worldwide plasterboard specialist, Saint-Gobain and are available in New Zealand through Potters’s International Alliance Program. These products feature innovative, VOC reducing Activ’Air technology to help improve indoor air quality.

Boards in the Potter Rigitone Perforated Plasterboard range have been designed for use on ceilings where an increased level of sound attenuation and a high level of aesthetic appeal is required. The panel perforations together with acoustic fabric lining and insulation, where used, reduce echo and noise reverberation to create more comfortable environments for work and leisure.

PRODUCT OPTIONS

Rigitone Matrix 15mm Round as a 12.5mm thick sheet, 2010mm wide and 1200mm long.

A regular pattern of 15mm round perforations at 30mm centres combine to give Class C sound absorption and up to 0.90 NRC 19.6% perforated area. The panels are supplied a white acoustic fabric backing that improves acoustic performance and eliminates dust from ceiling cavities.

INSTALLATION

Rigitone is specially designed to be screw fixed to suspended ceilings. Its unique installation method allows the product’s perforated pattern to continue undisrupted where sheets meet. Unlike the traditional three coat plasterboard jointing systems, Rigitone boards are jointed by directing a specialised compound into a gap between the sheets. The filling method is made possible by the unique Rigitone Filler Accessory Kit, combined with the Rigitone Filler compound. While all four edges of Rigitone sheets are pre-primed, cut edges must be sealed with Rigitone Primer prior to installation, readying the surface for the filler compound.

ACTIV’AIR

Activ’Air is a patented technology that converts formaldehyde into non-harmful inert compounds that are permanently locked in the board and cannot be released back into the air.

BOSS P40 MAK-Wrap is a light-weight, versatile insulation wrap for protecting metallic service penetrations through fire walls. At 40mm thick and with a 40kg/m3 density, the P40-MAK Wrap offers a cost effective, easy to install method of providing the insulation requirements to penetrating pipes, cables & cable trays through fire walls, floors and ceilings.

It consists of medium density mineral fibre insulation, lined on one face with reinforced aluminium foil backing.  When used in conjunction with other high performance BOSS penetration seals, P40-MAK Wrap will increase the insulation rating of the installed system by up to 120 minutes, by blocking the transfer of heat from thermally conductive services in a fire situation.

P40-MAK Wrap is lightweight, easy to handle and simple to install.  It can simply be wrapped around the services to be protected and secured in place using a number of methods. The mineral fibre insulation is non-toxic and unaffected by oil, fungus, moisture and contains no halogens or asbestos.

Applications include steel pipes, copper pipes, lagged copper pipes, mains power cables, TPS circuit cables, telecommunications cables and cable trays, on a range of wall types including plasterboard, concrete, masonry, AAC and Speed Panel.

Why Use P40-MAK Wrap:

  1. Offer 2hrs insulation to penetrating metallic services (FRL -/120/120)
  2. Requires only one layer of P40-MAK Wrap on large main conductors and cable trays
  3. Low cost and simple installation
  4. Approved to be used with BOSS Batt aperture seals
  5. Approved for a wide variety of mixed service bundles with the BOSS Fire Transit Box
  6. Tested and approved to AS1530.4 at only 300mm wide

Preparation:

  1. Ensure that service penetration sealing system (eg. BOSS FireMastic-300, BOSS Fire Transit Box) has been installed correctly as per the installation instructions for that system.
  2. Remove all unnecessary combustible materials from area adjacent to the seal. Use a dust pan and brush, sweep all loose material and debris from the services and service support system.
  3. Insulation lagging on services may be left intact.

Installation:

  1. Wear suitable attire and eye protection to avoid skin and eye contact.
  2. Fasten one end of the wrap to the services / tray being wrapped using adhesive-backed foil tape.
  3. Carefully install the wrap around the service/s and/or tray, applying gentle tension to the foil backing to ensure a snug fit.
  4. Cut the wrap to the required length, to ensure a minimum overlap across the join of 100mm or as per the supporting tested system. Note that some tested systems require the services to be wrapped to form multiple layers or in some cases be extended in distance from the substrate requiring multiple wraps.
  5. Secure the wrap across the join using adhesive-backed foil tape.
  6. Any exposed fibres on the edges of the wrap can be covered by application of a strip of adhesive-backed foil tape.
  7. Secure the wrap in position using steel tie-wire or steel cable ties.
  8. Maintain a record of the installation and label as required.

Rondo KEY-LOCK® Concealed Suspended Ceiling System is designed to produce a high-quality structure for a flush or featured finish to your plasterboard ceiling. There are two options for this ceiling system. You can either direct-fix or fully suspend.

However, if it’s a suspension depth of more than 200mm you’re after, then our most popular, fully suspended KEY-LOCK® ceiling system is the way to go.   Available for fire-rated, bulkhead, seismic and acoustic designs, it is strong enough to hold multiple layers of plasterboard.

The ceiling grid system enables the mixing of primary (Top Cross Rail) and secondary components (Furring Channel) to increase spans, suspension fixing points and maximise structural design. The components within the Rondo ceiling system have been expertly designed to simply snap into sections, without the aid of mechanical tools. This offers contractors an easy to install ceiling system, speeding up valuable time on site.

What’s more, the innovative Top Cross Rail and Furring Channel sections have rolled edges making them safer to handle and together with our state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, we can also produce these profiles in custom lengths or radiuses for vaulted and curved ceilings. KEY-LOCK® Ceiling System can be installed with our Acoustic Mounts to improve airborne sound and impact sound transmitted between floors.

Additionally, our Technical Team can provide seismic design solutions using our KEY-LOCK® Ceiling System, which have been tested to meet Australian and New Zealand building codes.

For those who need a more direct approach, Rondo supplies a wide range of direct fixing clips that allows you to direct fix Furring Channels or Ceiling Battens to either concrete, steel or timber ceiling structures for suspension depths of up to 200mm.

If you need a greater suspension depth, you can install a Rondo Key-Lock® suspended ceiling system.

Direct fixing clips need to be fixed along the sections in accordance with the relevant maximum span tables and our Furring Channels should be spaced as per the building board manufacturers’ recommendations.  There is also a range of ceiling batten systems which are suitable for truss spacings from 600mm to 1200mm and for use in cyclonic and high wind areas.

Rondo Ceiling Battens and accompanying clips have been load tested to ensure they meet all relevant standard requirements. Two of our most popular clips are the 314 Direct Fixing Clip and the 390 Batten Swivel Clip.

314 Direct Fixing Clip – to accommodate the increasing use of timber “I” beams, the 314 Clip has two extra nail or screw slots lower down on the clip, with an additional holding tab to assist installation. Cleverly, the temporary holding tab is tapped into the timber beam when the clip is at the right level freeing up both your hands to secure the clip.

390 Batten Swivel Clip – with the ability to rotate 360°, the swivel clip can easily turn the ceiling batten on an angle that suits the change in roof truss direction. It also incorporates the temporary holding tab for quick and easy installation.

The Rondo Steel Stud Drywall Framing System provides a durable, practical and lightweight structure for internal plasterboard walls and for specific external walls. The availability of various sizes, complimentary components such as nogging tracks, curved tracks and special cleats ensure Rondo Stud and Track wall systems are available to suit almost all situations.

Designed to not only be stronger but safer, our range of Hemmed Track sections and 51mm (401) and 76mm (403) Wall Stud helps reduce handling injuries on site. The hemmed return lip increases rigidity, preventing unwanted rotation as well as eliminating sharp edges.

The vertical rib in the stud face allows the wall linings to be placed centrally, ensuring easier and faster fixing, while the deeper knurling provides better screw location and retention. What’s more, our studs lock perfectly into each other, creating the best boxed stud profile in the market.

Rondo Steel Stud Drywall Framing Systems comply with all relevant Building Codes for fire-rated, acoustic, seismic and load bearing requirements.

Rondo 0.50bmt, 0.55bmt and 0.75bmt Wall Studs have bell mouthed service holes. Being bell mouthed with no protruding sharp edges eliminates the need for fitting grommets for electrical cabling. Punched round holes are processed at designated centres along our 1.15bmt Wall Studs.

Noise is actually vibration. A normal stud conducts the vibration across its web, and sound is transmitted via anything that reacts to it by vibrating. The Rondo QUIET STUD® is overall bigger in surface area than a standard wall stud. Therefore, the sound (vibration) has further to travel and tends to weaken in intensity across the wall, resulting in a more acoustic efficient wall system.

Its unique design, combined with appropriate lining board systems, forms an effective buffer against unwanted noise to provide a cost-effective solution to acoustic control provisions. You get more floor space, less noise and less installation costs with Rondo QUIET STUD®.

Fast and simple to install, its smaller footprint means more usable floor space. Not only that, the installation method is practically the same as standard drywall construction, so you’ll have lower installation costs and a virtually fail-safe acoustic wall-system.

TOP HATS & CLEATS

We produce a wide range of Top Hats for a variety of uses including internally or externally and on vertical fascias and soffits. Top Hats are often used where there is a higher wind loading or where heavy duty sheeting is to be installed.

Our Top Hats come in both medium gauge (0.75bmt) and heavy gauge (1.15bmt), two different face widths, 50mm and 75mm, and four different depths, 15mm, 25mm, 35mm, and 50mm. Each Top Hat is manufactured from G200 Z275 Gal Steel.

We also produce a range of complementary fixing cleats that enable the adjustable fixing of Top Hats to steel or masonry/concrete substrates as well as to steel stud framing, allowing for plumb or leveling of the cleat to the structure and of the Top Hat onto the cleat as shown in the Design Manual.

Some facade systems require the installation of Top Hats vertically and there will be occassions where steel studs do not coincide with the Top Hat spacing requirement. When that is the case, it may be neccessary to install Top Hats onto the steel Nogging Track.

For Top Section Dimensions, Serviceability Limit State Load Tables and Ultimate Limit State Load Tables, click here.

REVEAL BEADS

We supply Reveal Beads in a variety of widths that offer a strong, straight and clean finish to window openings that require internal trimming.

Our Reveal Beads are cold rolled from 0.9mm Zincanneal steel and are able to withstand harsh UV rays without cracking or breaking down. They incorporate a perforated leg for setting into the surrounding wall lining and can be painted over to match the wall finish.

STEEL ANGLES & ‘C’ CHANNEL COMPONENTS

We have a range of Steel Angles available, including heavy duty and slotted angles.

Heavy Duty Steel Angles suit both lightweight autoclaved aerated concrete panel systems (AAC) and steel framing requirements for facade systems. They can be used to strengthen internal corners of façade systems, in the construction of bulkhead framing or in a variety of situations requiring bracing or stiffening.

Our Slotted Steel Angles can be used for head and base fixing for AAC panel systems.

We also produce ‘C’ Channel components that are designed for use with Speedpanel products and also offer Double-punched Nogging Track that is suitable for back-to-back configurations for Rondo Steel Stud or MAXIjamb®.

Enhanced acoustics and style are the hallmarks of Protone 12mm Square perforated plasterboard. This superior acoustic solution delivers a grid-format geometric effect plus enhanced air quality thanks to patented Activ’Air technology.

Product Overview

Manufactured by worldwide plasterboard specialist, Saint-Gobain, Protone is purpose built to provide exceptional acoustic control with contemporary design.
A flexible option provides even greater levels of design freedom.

High levels of acoustic absorption are achieved through a combination of perforation patterns and a highly effective white acoustic fabric backing which also prevents dust from the ceiling entering the room and masks the ceiling framework.

Protone 12mm Square features eight large square groupings per sheet, each with 400 x 12mm square perforations at 25mm centres, providing a 16% open area.

Protone is also manufactured with Activ’Air technology which has an enduring impact on indoor air quality.  All four edges of Protone perforated plasterboards are recessed to make flush jointing quicker and easier without the need for butt joints between full panels. The availability of seamless access panels, ensures easy access to the ceiling cavity while maintaining pattern continuity.

Typical Applications

Used as a high performance plasterboard for ceilings in commercial constructions where a high level of acoustic performance is required. This includes applications such as theatres, restaurants, shopping centres and hotel foyers. Whilst perforated plasterboard in predominantly installed in ceilings, it is suitable for use in walls.

The unique installation method allows the product’s perforated pattern to continue uninterrupted, achieved using a specialised compound, accessory kit and primer prior, readying the surface for sanding and painting.

Access Panel
An access panel is available that consists of a plasterboard frame that is easily set into the ceiling and a 510mm x 510mm hatch piece with a matching perforation pattern that fits neatly into the frame. This panel provide access to the ceiling cavity while ensuring a seamless look across the surface.

Activ’Air
Activ’Air is a patented technology that converts formaldehyde into non-harmful inert compounds that are permanently locked in the board and cannot be released back into the air.

BOSS Ablative Coating is tested and approved to AS1530.4, AS4072.1 and BS/EN1366.3.

Ablative Coating is a water based acrylic coating, having excellent fire and electrometric properties. At normal temperatures, it remains flexible to permit thermal and mechanical movement of the services. The product is unaffected by oil, fungus, moisture, vermin, contain no halogens or asbestos and contains no VOCs.

Sylomer, the special PUR Elastomer material developed by Getzner is one of the leading products on the international market for vibration isolation and mitigation.

The elastic polyurethane material deforms under tension and compression loads, but always returns to its original form. In doing so, these reliable materials isolate and reduce vibrations which can have negative effects on humans, the environments and materials.

Sylomer is used in its cellular or compact form for many applications in civil engineering and machinery. In most of them, Sylomer is used as an elastic interlayer like a spring. The characteristics of this spring can be adapted to the need of application and of the construction, or the construction method by selecting the Sylomer type – including Sylodamp and Sylodyn, the thickness, and the loaded surface area.

Acoustic pipe and duct lagging

Soundlag is a high-performance composite acoustic lagging product developed to reduce noise from pipes, valves, fan housings, and ductwork in commercial, industrial and domestic buildings.

Soundlag 4525C provides an optimal soundproofing solution for those seeking compliance to BCA (Building Code of Australia) F5.6 requirements for habitable and non-habitable rooms. Based on test results, Soundlag 4525C can offer a significantly higher performance of up to 5 dB(A) compared to low noise pipe products especially in areas with no ceiling or with penetrations.

The highly dense and flexible mass layer provides excellent sound reduction properties, whilst the decoupling layer breaks the vibration path between substrate and the mass barrier, allowing the vinyl external wrap to remain flexible – optimising performance. The external foil facing offers a fire resistant covering and an excellent surface to join adjacent sheets.

Pyrotek® offers varying compositions with barrier weights from 3 kg/m² to 8 kg/m² and the decoupling layer with a choice of plain (4512) or convoluted (4525C) foam, polyester, fibreglass, glass wool or quilted glass wool with thicknesses from 6 mm to 50 mm.

Silentstep is a high-performance acoustic carpet underlay, comprising of a flexible mass-loaded barrier fused onto high-density premium foam underlay. The combination of these two products allows Silentstep to reduce the transmission impact-generated noise such as footfall, and airborne noise such as speech.

Silentstep was developed to meet market noise reduction requirements in multistorey living, commercial, automotive and marine markets. Simple to cut and lay, it offers excellent support and a firm cushioned base for all types of carpet applications. It is ideally suited for lightweight flooring constructions such as timber and marine applications, where fibreglass and composite floor panels are used.

When laying carpet over a floor constructed using lightweight timber and joists, typical standard underlay only reduces impact noise and offers little effect in reducing the transmission of airborne noise. Silentstep can significantly reduce both impact and airborne noise transfer through a floor system. This means that noise generated from speech and electronic audio technologies, such as radio and television, can be reduced along with noise generated by impact such as footfall.

Silentstep products are environmentally safe, contain no ozone-depleting substances and complies with European and Australian standards for Volatile Organic Compound emissions.

Quadzero™ is a high performance, foil-faced, mass-loaded vinyl noise barrier, offering superior acoustic transmission loss and low spread of flame surface covering.

Quadzero™ was developed to meet market noise reduction requirements in the domestic, commercial, industrial and OEM sectors.

To achieve this high performance, the Pyrotek engineering team developed Quadzero™ to be dense, thin, strong, tear-resistant and highly flexible. These properties give the product high transmission loss throughout the various weight ranges. It complies with British and international fire and building codes for low spread of flame.

Stiff lightweight panel constructions, such as plasterboard, drywall, plywood and hollow core walls, typically have coincidence dip resonance which allows noise to transmit through a construction. The coincidence dip is dependent on the material’s stiffness and thickness and occurs at the point where the sound transmitted through the structure matches the natural frequency of the panel.

Quadzero™ shifts the coincidence dip to frequencies limiting its impact, thereby maintaining the performance of the product. The thin, dense mass Quadzero™ barrier reflects and absorbs the transmission of sound through walls, ceilings and floors, reducing the critical frequencies generated from mechanical equipment, engine noise and electronic audio devices.

With today’s rigorous standards in fire safety for residential and commercial buildings, BOSS Fire & Safety offer the perfect solution for maintaining the integrity of Fire Rated ceiling when using downlights.

Traditionally, the installation of downlights means the ceiling’s fire rating would be compromised, and the previous options that exist to maintain the fire rating have been less than satisfactory. Many products on the market are known as ‘heat resistant’ which is not a compliant Fire Rated solution, or are approved only to foreign codes such as British Standard.

BOSS Fire & Safety now offer an effective and low-cost solution, specifically for downlights, that is approved for up to 2-hours Fire Rating. The Fire Rated Downlight Cover is an intumescent hood that is installed on top of the downlight to provide 2hr protection to the ceiling.

FireMastic-HPE™ is a high pressure exerting fire sealant to surpass all other sealants. Our flagship sealant is tested and approved to change the way firestopping is applied to pipes and penetrations.

Approved to AS1530.4 and EN1366 and offers an FRL of up to -/120/120 in a wide range of penetration systems, outperforming other leading sealants in independent fire tests.

FireMastic-HPE is a graphite-based, thixotropic, one-part acrylic emulsion that is designed to resist the passage of fire and smoke. Under heat, FireMastic-HPE will expand with enough pressure to close PVC pipes and seal around cables and metal pipes to maintain the integrity and insulation performance of the seal, yet without placing any unnecessary pressure on the building substrate.

FireMastic-HPE is supplied in cartridges suitable for caulking via an applicator gun or also available in buckets. It has excellent non-slump properties coupled with the ease of application due to its water-based nature.

The sealant is intended for use in either linear gap seals or services penetrations through walls where fire integrity and insulation needs to be preserved. Under fire conditions the product expands up to 40 times its volume and exerts pressure to the surrounding substrates leading to closure of the penetration. The integrity and insulation is then maintained by the stability of the remaining product char.
